RICHMOND, Va. – (Monday, April 19, 2021) – USL League One announced on Monday that Richmond Kickers defender Juan Pablo Monticelli has been named the League One Player of the Week for Week 2 following his performance in the season-opening win at New England Saturday night.
Making his Kickers debut, Monticelli doubled the Richmond lead in the second minute of first-half stoppage time with the final touch of the half. He would go on to be tied for the most tackles on the team, along with being second on the team in clearances and possessions gained. With the help on the defensive side of the ball, the Kickers prevented a single shot on target by New England.
The Kickers are back in action this Saturday night for the Home Opener, presented by Bon Secours as the 2020 USL League One Title-Winners, Greenville Triumph SC comes to City Stadium.
