RICHMOND, Va. – (Friday, August 28, 2020) – The Richmond Kickers (3-1-1) return back home to City Stadium this Saturday night riding a four-match unbeaten streak as they host the league leaders Greenville Triumph SC (5-1-1) with the Bon Secours Cup on the line. Kickoff for this clash is set for 6:30 p.m. and will air live on WTVR CBS 6.3 (Comcast 206, Verizon FiOS 466) and streaming on ESPN+. The series between these two clubs is even at two wins apiece since this USL League One rivalry started last season. Greenville got the better of the Kickers earlier this season back on July 25 at Legacy Early College. Jake Keegan broke the stalemate in the 21st minute after a scramble in the box. 14 minutes later Matt Bolduc got the Kickers back into the match. An own goal and a second goal from Jake Keegan put the hosts in the lead. Emiliano Terzaghi scored his first goal with Richmond, but it would not be enough to salvage the draw on the road. 
 
Richmond picked up their third-straight victory last Friday night at Gillette Stadium against New England Revolution II, 2-1. Despite the Kickers hitting the woodwork twice in the first half, both teams headed into halftime deadlocked in a scoreless draw. That stalemate was broken in the 54th minute when Matt Bolduc was able to slip the ball through for Emiliano Terzaghi to continue his form, scoring his fourth goal in five matches. A curling effort by Mayele Malango in the 71st minute pulled the home side level once again. However, 11 minutes later, Ian Antley dropped in a cross right to the back post as Ryley Kraft slid in to finish it off for the game-winner.
 
Greenville saw their six-match unbeaten run come to an end Wednesday night on the road against New England Revolution II. The teams came out of halftime looking for an opening goal after finishing the first half scoreless. In the 57th minute, Connor Pressley fed the ball up the right wing for Nicolas Firmino. Without pressure from the Triumph defense, Firmino worked his way into the box until he found the right space to lay the ball off for Ryo Shimazaki to run onto at the top of the box and put it past Dallas Jaye. That was the first goal the Triumph conceded since Terzaghi’s goal in the Kickers match at Greenville. Jaye ended the night with four saves, but it would not be enough as Revolution II claimed their first victory of the season. 
 
The Kickers go on the road next Saturday night, traveling to face FC Tucson at Kino North Stadium. This match kicks off at 10:30 p.m. EDT. Catch the match live on WTVR CBS 6.3 (Comcast 206, Verizon FiOS 466) and streaming on ESPN+.

Earning a spot in the USL League One Team of the Week, defender Ian Antley (#2) set up Ryley Kraft’s game-winner goal last Friday night at New England. With that assist, the Sharpsburg, Ga. native leads the Kickers with two assists in his rookie season. Forward Emiliano Terzaghi (#32) continues his early season form, scoring the first goal in the Kickers win over Revolution II. The Argentine now has scored four goals in five matches, including a goal in the last three Kickers victories. Defender Scott Thomsen (#3) has played in all five matches for the Kickers this season, starting in four of those. He has six clearances and five interceptions through the start of the season as the Kickers have continued their four-match unbeaten streak. 

Greenville

Goalkeeper Dallas Jaye (#22) leads the league with five clean sheets this season. Before giving up the game winner against New England, Jaye had posted a 433 minute shutout streak. Forward Jake Keegan (#9) leads the Triumph with three goals so far this year through seven appearances, tying him for fourth in the league. In the last match against the Kickers, Keegan netted a brace to lead the team to a victory against Richmond. Posting two assists this year, midfielder Alex Morrell (#7) tops the team in this category through the first seven matches. Morrell also sits second in the league with 13 chances created.
