RICHMOND, VA – (Thursday, May 28, 2015) – The Richmond Kickers are proud to host the nationally renowned Bio Ritmo, bringing sizzling salsa and infectious Latin rhythms to City Stadium on Sunday, June 7. Headlining the Kickers Fiesta, Bio Ritmo will take the stage at 3:30 p.m. before the Kickers battle Charlotte at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at www.richmondkickers.com.
Blazing a trail by playing hard-hitting and far-reaching modern salsa for 24 years, Bio Ritmo are one of the most intriguing and influential Latin dance bands of the last two decades. Based in Richmond, VA, the 10-member ensemble is known for a classic Nuyorican salsa sound that combines African Caribbean rhythms and samba with electronica and big band brass. Crisp horns, powerful section of timbales, congas and bongos, and a piano/bass combo create gritty, vintage grooves, innovative harmonies and thought-provoking lyrics.
From hipster rock clubs in Brooklyn to salsa bars in Colombia, Bio Ritmo has toured the U.S. extensively and have performed in Canada, Colombia, Puerto Rico, France and the Republic of Georgia. Appearances have included the Inaugural Ball for Commonwealth of Virginia Governor Tim Kaine and National Public Radio (NPR) Music’s Tiny Desk.
