The Kickers kept the Red Wolves off the board in Tennessee

Chattanooga, Tn. — The Richmond Kickers (3-3-3, 12 pts) fought to win a point on the road against the Chattanooga Red Wolves on a rain-soaked pitch in CHI Memorial Stadium. The point comes in the first of three-straight away matches for the Richmond side.
The Kickers would push throughout the night, looking for chances in the first half. Emiliano Terzaghi and Josh Kirkland looked to push through the backline but a ball sticking in the puddles on the pitch wouldn’t move smoothly.
After a delay in the 42′, play returned and the Kickers kept moving until the half whistle blew.
The Kickers controlled the movement in the second half, driving towards goal every chance they could and forcing through the muddy conditions.
James Sneddon and 20 year-old Becket Howell — who earned his first start of the regular season tonight — led the backline to hold their own, shutting down the counter-attack from Matt Bentley and the Red Wolves.
In the dying minutes of the match, the Kickers earned three more corners but each of their shots on net took deflections or fell wide. Just before the final whistle, Hayden Anderson took a shot towards the near post but it couldn’t quite sneak in.
The Kickers will take the pitch again on Sunday, May 18 against Spokane Velocity, in Spokane. then the pain heads to Westchester over Memorial Day weekend before returning to City Stadium to close out May. The Kickers will be back home on May 31 for Military Appreciation Night to take on NCFC in Jagermiester Cup play.
