Kickers FUTSAL is set to begin our second season competing in Futsal Winter League. After a successful inaugural season, we are delighted to announce our Winter coaching staff and some exciting new changes to the Kickers Futsal experience. After receiving some valuable feedback from our families through our end of season survey, we are a committed to enhancing the Kickers FUTSAL experience for our players and their families.
The first changes we decided to make were adjusting our roster sizes to a maximum of eight players per team. This will lead to more playing time for each player which will translate to more touches on the ball and more decision making opportunities. This will increase our player’s personal development and enjoyment.
We’ve secured additional court space to enhance the training environment for our players. Moving forward, our training schedule will provide our teams with a full court to train on. Our goal is to give each team a full court and have two similar teams training together e.g. two U10 boys teams (14-16 players) training on the same court at the same time. The two teams would train together with their coaches and scrimmage together during each session.
Additionally, teams will now train on either Tuesday or Wednesday evening at CCOM from 5-8pm. Adding an extra night of training opens up valuable court space so we can continue to provide the best possible developmental environment for our players.
Each of our Kickers FUTSAL teams will participate in either The Jefferson Open or Mid Atlantic Regional tournament. Tournament entries for each team will be finalized the week before the season starts.
Kickers FUTSAL will have our top coaches involved throughout the program. This includes several members of Richmond Kickers technical staff along with licensed travel coaches. We will have coaches working with their current Travel age groups:
As we strive to continue to meet our goal of utilizing Futsal as a developmental tool we feel these changes will make a big difference in the winter experience.
