High Point Product Signs First Professional Contract

RICHMOND, Va. – (Monday, January 27, 2020) – The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Jonathan Bolanos for the 2020 USL League One season, pending USL League One and USSF approval.

“Jonathan is a young player with a skill set that will compliment our attack in a different way than our other attacking options,” commented Kickers Sporting Director Darren Sawatzky. “His ability to go at defenders will be fun for our fans and adding another good person to the locker room fits the culture we are building at the Richmond Kickers.”

A native of Miramar, Florida, Bolanos played four years at High Point University. He made 74 appearances for the Panthers, including starting in all 20 matches his senior season. Over his collegiate career, Bolanos scored 15 goals and added 10 assists, with a career high five assists in his junior season. Prior to the start of his senior year, Bolanos played in 12 matches with the Des Moines Menace in USL League Two.

“It’s been my dream to become a professional soccer player, and I am excited that the Kickers have given me the opportunity to start my professional career,” said Bolanos. “I would like to thank this organization and Coach Darren for the opportunity to start my career with such a historic club. I look forward to helping the team as much as I can and can’t wait to get started.”
