Fricke captained Ignite FC to the playoffs in the club's inaugural season
Greenville Triumph SC has signed defender Brandon Fricke, the club announced Tuesday. The center back is the seventh player on the Triumph’s current 2020 roster.
Fricke started 27 matches for Lansing Ignite FC in 2019, serving as team captain and finishing the season with a club-high 101 clearances. The Butler University alumnus proved to be one of the most precise distributors in League One and ranked in the top ten in passing accuracy among defenders who played at least half of their clubs’ matches in his first professional season.
Fricke, who served as one of three center backs in Lansing’s 3-5-2 set-up in 2019, joins the league’s best defense ahead of the 2020 season. Greenville adds Fricke to a group of returners that includes Golden Glove winner Dallas Jay, First Team All-League defender Tyler Polak, and defensive stalwart Evan Lee.
Paul Clowes, Jake Keegan and Aaron Walker will also return to the Triumph in 2020, bringing the current roster total to seven players.
