RICHMOND, Va. — The Richmond Kickers have signed promising defender Greyson Codjoe to a USL Academy contract for the remainder of the 2026 season, the club announced Thursday. The addition further reinforces the club’s commitment to developing youth players and keeping local talent in Richmond.
Codjoe,16, returns to Richmond after a stint with the Colorado Rapids Academy. A Richmond, Va., native, Codjoe was named to the 2026 MLS NEXT All-Star Team after a standout season with the Rapids U-16 side.
“I am excited to bring Greyson into our team on an academy contract,” said Interim Head Coach Brian Ownby. “First, he has great character and a fantastic attitude. Second, this is an incredible opportunity for him to continue his development. I am looking forward to seeing his growth not only on the field but off as well.”
A physical presence at 6-foot-4, Codjoe signed with the Colorado Rapids Academy in 2025. In April of this year, Codjoe excelled at the Generation adidas Cup, where he totaled 323 minutes and scored a goal across six appearances. The transaction was completed prior to the USL League One roster freeze on Monday, Sept. 7 and Codjoe will be on the active roster through the 2026 campaign.
Codjoe and the Kickers continue their season as they host Chattanooga Red Wolves SC on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 6:00 p.m. at City Stadium.
