Espinal Logs Brace in 2-0 Home Win on Wednesday Night

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers emerged victorious in a 2-0 win on Wednesday night against New York Cosmos at City Stadium. The win marks the second victory in as many games for the Kickers and the fourth clean sheet in USL1 regular season play.

Richmond utilized a plethora of opportunities to their advantage on Wednesday evening, placing the Cosmos on their heels throughout a majority of the contest. The Kickers jumped to an early lead in the 33rd minute in the fixture, as a Hayden Anderson cross inside the box was controlled and converted by Darwin Espinal. The shot would be the first of two goals on the night for the Honduras native, as his 53rd-minute strike from just outside the box would give him a brace. 

The New York Cosmos was led by Nick Zielonka, who posted a team-high three shots in the match.
