News and Notes:
WEEK 2 REMATCH: Richmond and Greenville meet for a second time at Paladin Stadium in just a span of 49 days.
The Kickers took their first three points of the season when Kharlton Belmar curled in a shot from the left wing that beat the keeper. Richmond then locked it down defensively and saw out the result as Will Palmquist earned a clean sheet in his first league start.
Following the conclusion of the match between the two rivals from the former Bon Secours Cup rivalry, Richmond and Greenville won’t face each other again until late September, when Richmond hosts Greenville for Noche de la Herencia Hispana on September 23.
KICKERS’ ROADSHOW: The Kickers are in the midst of an eight-match unbeaten run in the league on the road extending back to last summer that includes wins in 2023 over third-place Greenville Triumph and fourth-place South Georgia Tormenta and a draw at second-place Charlotte Independence.
The 2-0-1 record with a plus-4 goal differential on the road in 2023 marks an impressive improvement over the Kickers’ early road form in 2022.
In its first three matches on the road last season, Richmond amassed a 1-2-0 record with a -1 goal differential.
The last time, Richmond lost a league game on the road, was Aug. 13, 2022, at Greenville Triumph SC.
TERZAGHI SEEKING 50TH KICKERS’ GOAL: USL League One’s all-time leading goalscorer and the Kickers’ third-ranked all-time leading scorer is on the brink of reaching 50 goals for the club.
After compiling 45 goals in his first three USL League One seasons and three more goals during the 2022 and 2023 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup runs, Terzaghi notched his first league goal of 2023 against South Georgia Tormenta FC — bringing his total tally to 49 goals.
Terzaghi sits behind club legends Matthew Delicâte (94) and Rob Ukrop Jr. (64).
Next Home Match:
The Kickers’ next home match is set for May 20th when they host league newcomers, Lexington SC, for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The club will host First Responders Night presented by Bon Secours with fans having the opportunity to interact with local first responders and their vehicles.
