A TOP LEAGUE ONE RIVALRY: Two of the founding members of USL League One and opponents in the Bon Secours Cup that lasted from 2019-21, Richmond and Greenville have locked horns in close competition for the last four seasons.
Richmond won the season series during the first three seasons before Greenville took the season series in 2022. A win on Saturday would see the Roos even up the overall series as they currently hold a 4-5-1 record against Greenville with a -1 goal differential.
Last year’s regular-season finale at City Stadium was the first time that the two sides had ever drawn. Greenville’s 3-1 win over Richmond in July 2022 was the first match that was decided by multiple goals and only the second time Greenville ever scored more than 1 goal in a match against Richmond.
WATCH PARTY AT TRIPLE CROSSING DOWNTOWN: For the first time, the Richmond Kickers will host an away watch party at Triple Crossing Downtown. Home of the world-famous Falcon Smash IPA, fans will gather for a night of fun and Kickers’ footy.

ROOS RETURN TO TOTW: Akira Fitzgerald began the second week of the 2023 regular season the same way he did the second week of the 2022 regular season: a member of the Week 1 Team of the Week.
Fitzgerald earned the distinction following a five-save performance — which included a save of the week nomination — and a clean sheet to open the season.
Joining Fitzgerald in the weekly honors were Matthew Bentley and newcomer, Michael Hornsby, who were both named to the Week 1 bench.
DEFENSE PICKING UP WHERE IT LEFT OFF: Richmond shut out the second-highest scoring team in 2022 last Saturday despite the Independence adding the all-time leading scorer from USL Championship, Dane Kelly.
Fitzgerald and his backline’s clean sheet was the cherry on top of a performance that limited Charlotte’s high-quality chances as the Independence only placed 5 of its 16 shots on target.
Of course, Richmond finished with the second-fewest goals conceded in USL League One last season and is off to a good start with their first performance on the road.
