RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers (7-8-7) return to City Stadium, Saturday, Oct. 2, to host league leaders Chattanooga Red Wolves SC (10-3-10) as the Reds continue their playoff push with six matches remaining on the schedule.
The Kickers prepare to host Chattanooga in the middle of a busy stretch of games that features three home matches in a 12-day stretch. Despite the congestion in fixtures, the Reds have the opportunity to host the league leaders at City Stadium where they have taken points in 10 of 11 fixtures so far in 2021. However, the Kickers will have to face Chattanooga without midfielder Zaca Moran who will serve a one-match suspension for yellow-card accumulation.
Richmond’s last match was against Toronto FC II at City Stadium. Emiliano Terzaghi delivered the game-winner for the Richmond Kickers in stoppage time to bring a dramatic 1-0 finish to the match against the MLS-affiliate side. Richmond finished out the game statistically dominating Toronto in most facets of the game including passing accuracy (81.9%), total shots (19), and possession (58.3%).
Both Nil Vinyals and Emiliano Terzaghi were named in the USL League One Cleer Audio Team of the Week. Vinyals led every player in the match in chances created, duels won and successful tackles, making a big imprint in the middle of the pitch to keep Richmond moving forward. Terzaghi sealed the deal with his late goal and took sole possession of the lead for the Golden Boot race, notching his 13th goal of the season.
The last time the Reds faced Chattanooga was in May at CHI Memorial Stadium. Richmond opened up the scoring with an Oalex Anderson goal shortly after starting the second half of the match. But Chattanooga would answer back with a Ricky Ruiz goal shortly after in the 53rd minute, and then in the last 10 minutes of the match, Galindrez snuck in a late go-ahead goal in the 84th minute.
Chattanooga’s last match was against New England Revolution II over the weekend. The current league leaders dropped points to the MLS affiliates due to late drama in the dying minutes of the match. Justin Rennicks charged up the length of the pitch and scored a goal in the sixth minute of stoppage to seal three points at Chattanooga.
Following the match against Chattanooga, Richmond will host their Henny Derby-rivals, Forward Madison at City Stadium for a midweek matchup next Wednesday, October 6. Kickoff for that match is set for 6:30 p.m.

Richmond Kickers
Chris Cole (#3) is enjoying a good run of form on the left side of the defense. His speed and physicality prove to be incredibly beneficial playing up and down the wing. Cole has 25 clearances, 19 interceptions and an assist in only 12 games played this season.
Ethan Bryant (#8) is one of Richmond’s newer signings, coming in on a loan for the remainder of the season. Bryant has played a crucial role as an advanced midfielder as well as a box-to-box presence in the midfield. Bryant is good at retaining possession while attacking as well as transitioning into the attack with progressive passing.
Emiliano Terzaghi (#32) is Richmond’s leading goal scorer for two seasons now. Terzaghi took six shots against Toronto FC II and scored late into stoppage time. Terzaghi’s relentless attacking is a nuisance for defenses and goalkeepers alike and his 13 goals scored this season prove it.
Chattanooga Red Wolves SC
