TAMPA, Fla. — USL League One announced on Monday that Richmond Kickers’ forward Emiliano Terzaghi and midfielder Nil Vinyals were named to the Cleer Audio Team of the Week for Week 25 after Saturday’s dramatic stoppage-time win at home over Toronto FC II.
This marks the fifth time that the reigning MVP Terzaghi has been named to the league’s weekly honor. He previously appeared together during weeks 5, 17, and 19 as well as his Cleer Audio Player of the Week nod during Week 13.
“I appreciate the recognition,” Terzaghi said. “It is always good to be named, and more so with the exciting victory on Saturday and the work of the team!”
The Argentine talisman was a force on the attacking end for the Kickers as the forward scored the go-ahead game-winning goal in the third minute of stoppage time to keep the Kickers’ playoff destiny in their own hands.
Ultimately, the forward would not be denied as he recorded six (6) shots while placing four (4) of them on frame. Furthermore, he recorded a passing accuracy of 80% and won four (4) fouls.
Vinyals makes his return to the league’s weekly honors after previously earning Cleer Audio Player of the Week honors during Week 9.
“I believe my performance was a result of the team’s willingness to keep possession and dominate the game,” Vinyals said. “Saturday was one of the best team performances we’ve had this year and it gives us momentum going into the final stretch.
The Spaniard pulled the strings for the Reds on Saturday night as he recorded an 82.1 percent passing accuracy including 26 good crosses or passes. In the attack, he made four (4) key passes while recording two (2) shots. Defensively, Vinyals patrolled between the two penalty areas as he led the Kickers with four (4) tackles on the night.
The Kickers remain at home for their next two matches. First, the Reds prepare to host league leaders Chattanooga Red Wolves SC on Saturday, Oct. 2. Kickoff for that match is set for 6:30 p.m. The Kickers then host Forward Madison FC on a quick turnaround on Wednesday, Oct. 6. Kickoff for that match is also set for 6:30 p.m.
