RICHMOND, Va. – (Tuesday, September 29, 2020) – USL League One announced on Tuesday that Ivan Magalhães has been named USL League One Player of the Week for Week 11. Ryley Kraft and Emiliano Terzaghi have earned spots on the Team of the Week as well. This is Magalhães’ first Player of the Week nod, and his second time this season on the Team of the Week. Kraft makes his third appearance, while this is Terzaghi’s fifth time being named on the Team of the Week.
Magalhães had the match-winner last Saturday night on the road against Union Omaha. The defender recorded a game-high seven clearances combined with three recoveries to help the Kickers to their third cleansheet of the season. The Brazilian put in a strong defensive effort against Fort Lauderdale last Wednesday, with six clearances and four interceptions to go with nine recoveries.
Kraft picked up two assists over the two matches last week. The first was setting up Terzaghi’s game-winner in the 54th minute off a corner kick. Overall, he had three chances created and five recoveries.
Terzaghi bagged a brace against Fort Lauderdale CF to lead the Kickers to a midweek home victory. The Argentine had six shots on target over both matches while recording seven recoveries and having a passing accuracy of 100 percent against Fort Lauderdale.
The Kickers will be back in action next Saturday night, back at City Stadium hosting New England Revolution II, presented by Impawsible Pups. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. The match will be shown live on WTVR CBS 6.3 and streaming on ESPN+. USL League One Team of the Week – Week 11
GK – Amal Knight, FC Tucson: Knight recorded 11 saves across two games for Tucson, including a nine-save performance in the club’s 2-1 victory against Forward Madison FC last Wednesday night.
D – Ivan Magalhães, Richmond Kickers: The Brazilian notched seven interceptions, 11 clearances and 12 recoveries across two victories for the Kickers in the week and scored the only goal in their 1-0 win against Union Omaha on Saturday night.
D – Evan Lee, Greenville Triumph SC: Lee won 6 of 8 duels, made two interceptions and completed 26 of 35 passes in a strong defensive performance by Triumph SC as the side took a 1-0 win against North Texas SC on Friday night.
D – Sami Guediri, Fort Lauderdale CF: Guediri was sharp on and off the ball in Fort Lauderdale’s two outings over the week, completing 72 of 79 passes and winning 12 of 16 duels while also recording four interceptions and 10 recoveries.
M – Tiago Mendonca, New England Revolution II: Mendonca had an industrious performance in the Revolution II’s win against Orlando City B, recording three key passes and completing 58 of 68 passes overall while winning 7 of 12 duels.
M – Ryley Kraft, Richmond Kickers: Kraft recorded two assists across the Kickers’ two victories on the week and recorded three chances created overall in addition to completing 23 of 32 passes to help guide the Richmond attack.
M – Eduardo Sosa, Fort Lauderdale CF: Sosa recorded a goal and assist in Fort Lauderdale’s 2-1 victory against FC Tucson on Saturday night and across two outings completed 43 of 54 passes and made five recoveries.
M – Orlando Sinclair, New England Revolution II: Sinclair set up the Revolution II’s winning goal against Orlando City B and was sharp on the ball otherwise, recording three key passes and 39 of 46 passes overall in the side’s second consecutive win.
M – Emiliano Terzaghi, Richmond Kickers: The Argentine continued his outstanding season with both the Kickers’ goals against Fort Lauderdale CF on Wednesday night and won 16 of 29 duels across both of the club’s victories in the week.
F – Jake Keegan, Greenville Triumph SC: Keegan scored the decisive goal in Triumph SC’s 1-0 win against North Texas SC and won 9 of 11 duels and 4 of 6 tackles in a strong two-way performance at Legacy Early College.
F – Michael Vang, Forward Madison FC: Vang scored the only goal, recorded two key passes and completed 13 of 15 passes overall to help Madison claim a crucial home victory against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC on Saturday afternoon.
