RICHMOND, Va. – (Wednesday, June 10, 2020) – The Richmond Kickers continue the new live feature, Déjà Roo, presented by Absolute Stone Design this Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. This series looks back at matches in Kickers history with live commentary from players and coaches that were in the match to bring fans unique content and activate our loyal partnerships. This week’s Déjà Roo will look at the road match at Penn FC that saw Scott Thomsen score a goal that ended up being featured on ESPN SportsCenter Top 10 Plays on July 9, 208. Richmond would claim the 2-1 road victory with a second half goal.
During the match, Kickers Manager of Digital Content, Nathan Heintschel will be joined by current Kickers defender Scott Thomsen and former midfielder Fred Owusu Sekyere. A native of Brick Township, New Jersey, Thomsen is in his fourth season with the Kickers after 22 matches in USL League One last season. He made 18 appearances for the Kickers in 2018, scoring one goal and adding an assist. In his first stint with the Kickers, he joined the club mid-season in 2016 and netted one goal and added one assist en route to the birth in the 2016 USL Playoffs. Now the Director of Technical Development and Camps for the Richmond Kickers Youth Club, Owusu made 96 appearances with the Kickers pro team, scoring nine goals and added 12 assists over four seasons.
