RICHMOND, VA — (Friday, October 6, 2017) — The Richmond Kickers (7-15-8) travel to play the first of their two remaining matches of the 2017 season, as they head to take on Saint Louis FC (9-13-8) this Saturday night at Toyota Stadium. This match will be available live on the Kickers Official Television Partners WTVR CBS 6 on their 6.3 sub channel (Comcast 206, Verizon FiOS 466) and on the USL Match Center. The Kickers are hosting an official watch party at the HofGarden, with happy hour drink specials and a special Red Army food menu throughout the match.
Richmond holds a slight advantage in the overall series, with a record of 2-1-1. The two clubs met previously this season as the Kickers hosted Saint Louis at City Stadium July 29. Octavio Guzman found Emmanuel Appiah off a corner kick in the 46th minute to give Saint Louis their first-ever victory over the Kickers. With Saint Louis being in the Western Conference in 2016, the two clubs had not met since 2015 where the Kickers took two victories both home and away.
Closing out their home schedule, the Kickers fell to the visiting Orlando City B 0-1 in front of 6,581 fans at City Stadium last Sunday. With ten minutes to go in the match, Michael Cox received the ball out wide right from Hadji Barry. Barry continued his run towards the box as Cox played in a cross to meet Barry and he took enough of a touch to get the ball past Travis Worra and into the back of the net for the game’s only goal.
Saint Louis returns home to Toyota Stadium following a 0-2 road defeat to the Harrisburg City Islanders last Saturday night. The home side went up after just four minutes as Abass Mohammed connected with Manolo Sánchez from a corner kick. Ropapa Mensah doubled the City Islanders lead in the 75th minute to seal the victory. Saint Louis only has one victory in their last seven outings.
The Kickers will conclude the 2017 USL season as they travel to face Louisville City FC next Saturday, October 14. The match will be available live on television through the Kickers official partners WTVR CBS 6 on their 6.3 sub channel (Comcast 206, Verizon FiOS 466) and the USL Match Center.
