RICHMOND, VA — (Tuesday, August 22, 2017) — The United Soccer League (USL) announced Tuesday that defender Alex Lee was named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 22. Lee notched his first assist of the season last Saturday night on the first goal scored by Sunny Jane as the Kickers claimed a 2-1 victory over Toronto FC II. This season Lee has made 16 appearances, all of which were starts.
Now in his fifth season in Richmond, Lee joined the Kickers in 2013 after being drafted by FC Dallas in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft. Lee spent four seasons at University of Maryland where he finished with four assists in 65 appearances. He captained the Terps to a 14-4-3 season in 2011, leading the team to a 1.05 goals against average, after contributing to a program-record 15 shutouts as a junior. As a freshman, he was a member of the 2008 NCAA National Championship team.
The Kickers return to action at City Stadium this Saturday night as they host long-time rivals Charleston Battery and Food Truck Night. The party starts at 5:30 p.m. with live music by Jive 45 and over a dozen craft beers on tap. RVA’s iconic food trucks will headline the event with local favorites including Carytown Burgers & Fries, Sticks Kebob Shop, Grapvevine, The Return of the Mac, Mr. Softee, Happy Empanada, Ms. Funnel Cakes and Boka Truck serving legendary tacos, made to order burgers, gourmet mac & cheese, authentic Greek fair and heavenly hand-made ice cream.
