RICHMOND, VA – (Tuesday, July 25, 2017) – The United Soccer League announced today that Kickers midfielder Samuel Asante was named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 18.
Asante scored the game winning goal in the Kickers 3-2 victory over Bethlehem Steel FC Saturday night. He looked to play a cross in for Franck Tayou as a Steel FC defender headed back into Asante’s path. He just needed to take a touch and then shot to the far post from the right side of the field to net the game winner.
Now in his fourth season in Richmond, Asante has scored four goals and added five assists in 97 appearances. He joined the Kickers prior to the 2014 season after one season with the Charlotte Eagles where he made 21 appearances.
The Kickers return to action Wednesday night on the road at the Charlotte Independence at 7:00 p.m. The match will be available live on the USL Match Center. They will be back at City Stadium this Saturday to host Saint Louis FC and the Craft Beer Fest. The party starts at 5:30 p.m. with live music from the Folly, RVA food trucks, local breweries and over 30 craft beers on tap. Then the Kickers take the field at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at www.richmondkickers.com.
