RICHMOND, VA – (Thursday, March 30, 2017) – The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce the addition of midfielder Raul Gonzalez for the 2017 season.
“Raul is an exciting prospect with plenty of potential,” commented Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer. “He gained valuable experience in preseason with Major League Soccer’s Minnesota United and he is a player we believe can develop considerably in the coming months.”
Gonzalez signed his first professional contract this week with the Kickers after spending the majority of preseason with Minnesota United. A native of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, he recently concluded his collegiate career at the University of Memphis where he made 65 appearances over four seasons. Tallying 13 goals and adding 13 assists, he was a two-time All-American Athletic Conference honoree, and was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team as a freshman. He made eight appearances with USL Premier Development League side Des Moines Menace in 2016.
