RICHMOND, VA – (Friday, March 13, 2015) – The Richmond Kickers are pleased to have signed midfielder Yudai Imura for the 2015 season.
“Yudai had a very successful collegiate career in Japan and was definitely the surprise of the tryout, impressing on all three days,” commented Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer. “It will be intriguing to see how he adjusts to life in the USL and we are eager for him to arrive in Richmond so he can begin that process.”
Imura impressed at the Kickers 2015 Pro Combine, earning his first professional contract after the three-day event. Previously, the 5’10” native of Tokyo spent one season with Yokogawa Musashino FC of the Japan Football League where he recorded four goals in nine appearances. Considered the top tier of amateur soccer in Japan, the Japan Football League features rising stars in international soccer and regularly features fully professional teams that hold J. League associate memberships. Prior to his stint with Yokogawa Musashino, he made 51 appearances with Juntendo University, notching 11 goals and ranking 10th in assists in the Japan College Kanto Conference.
