RICHMOND, VA – (Friday, January 23, 2015) – The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce the return of defender Alex Lee.
“We are delighted Alex has committed to the club long term as he has been an important part of our success during the past two seasons,” commented Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer. “We now have a strong core of players returning for the 2015 season and we continue to search for several more additions to round out the squad.”
A native of Rockville, Maryland, Lee returns to Richmond for his third season with the Kickers. Making 43 appearances over the past two seasons, he most recently notched one goal and six assists while contributing to seven shutouts in 2014.
Lee was the first pick in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft for FC Dallas following a standout collegiate career at University of Maryland where he finished with four assists in 65 appearances. He captained the Terps to a 14-4-3 season in 2011, leading the team to a 1.05 goals against average, after contributing to a program-record 15 shutouts as a junior. As a freshman, he was a member of the 2008 NCAA National Championship team.
