RICHMOND, VA – (Friday, July 18, 2014) – The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce that Elephant Insurance is the Official Presenting Sponsor when the Kickers host Crystal Palace at City Stadium on Monday, July 28. The historic match marks the first time a team from the world famous Barclay’s Premier League will appear in Richmond. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. and tickets are on sale now at www.richmondkickers.com.
Headquartered in Richmond, VA, Elephant believes that being involved in the community is critical to not only the company’s growth but Richmond’s growth as well. With roots originating back to their UK based parent company, the Admiral Group, Elephant found this historic event to fit well with the company’s story.
“The Kickers have done a great job attracting a top level soccer team like Crystal Palace, and as fellow Richmonders we’re proud to support our hometown team,” commented Kevin Chidwick, CEO of Elephant. “The World Cup has demonstrated the growing popularity of soccer in Richmond, so having a Barclays Premier League team play here for the first time on our doorstep is exciting.”
To celebrate this event, Elephant will be giving away two family packs of four tickets for the big game. For a chance to win, simply visit Elephant.com/virginia/richmond-kickers for more details.
“We are excited to have Elephant as our presenting sponsor,” added Hunter Leemon, Richmond Kickers Director of Sales. “For us it is exciting to not only host this historic international exhibition, but to have a company with their own international roots support our efforts to continue to put Richmond soccer on the map.”
In 2009, the Admiral Group launched their American brand, Elephant, choosing Richmond as their U.S. headquarters. Richmond’s large availability of a qualified and talented local workforce, as well as the growing trend of Virginia consumers going online for their auto insurance, has contributed to Elephant’s success both here in its hometown, as well as nationally. With a desire to make insurance easy and accessible for their customers, Elephant has challenged consumers to “See the Elephant Difference.”
The prestigious match in Richmond is a part of Crystal Palace’s nine-day, three-game U.S. preseason tour which also includes friendlies against the Columbus Crew on July 23 and Philadelphia Union on July 25.
Established in 1905, the London-based club climbed to an 11th place finish with a 13-19-6 record and 45 points in the Premier League standings this season, under the guidance of Premier League Manager of the Year, Tony Pulis. Highlights from the momentous season include handing Chelsea a 1-0 defeat and a remarkable come-from-behind 3-3 draw against Liverpool in front of sell-out crowds at Selhurst Park.
