RICHMOND, VA – (Friday, February 28, 2014) – The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce the signing of former Orange County Blues forward George Davis IV, pending USSF approval.
“We have long been an admirer of George’s talents,” commented Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer. “We are positive he will be a great addition to the squad as he is comfortable playing in any of the attacking positions, has extensive experience in USL PRO and will fit our style of play perfectly. We look forward to George joining the team for pre-season in the coming days.”
Davis signed with the Dayton Dutch Lions in 2011 and led the team with seven goals and two assists for 16 points, earning USL PRO All-League Second Team honors in his rookie season. Following his stint in Dayton, he signed with the Orange County Blues, making 36 appearances and notching seven goals and five assists over two seasons. He briefly joined Orlando City on loan in 2012 where he made seven appearances and added one assist before returning to Orange County in 2013 where he earned his second USL PRO All-League Second Team nod.
The 5’8” native of Lima, OH began his collegiate career at Bowling Green State University before transferring to the University of Kentucky prior to his junior year where he made 25 appearances, posting two goals and three assists. He spent the 2010 season with the Premier Development League’s Dayton Dutch Lions where he played 16 games while contributing five goals and seven assists.
