KALUNGI TAKES GOLD

Richmond Kickers defender Henry Kalungi claimed his first gold medal with the Uganda Men’s National Team Saturday as the Cranes won the CECAFA title with an overtime victory over Rwanda at Dar es Salam in Tanzania.  The fast-paced back and forth affair led to second half goals for each side, forcing extra time after a 2-2 draw through regulation.  Uganda goalkeeper Abbey Dhaira saved three penalties to boost Uganda to their 12th CECAFA championship.  In addition to the coveted trophy, Uganda took $30,000 (sh74m) while Rwanda settled for a consolation $20,000 (49m). Sudan pocketed $10,000 (25m).
