RICHMOND, VA – (Wednesday, June 1, 2016) – The Richmond Kickers are proud to introduce a newly revamped Advanced Development Program (ADP) for players ages 6-8 beginning this fall 2016. The enhanced programming will provide additional emphasis on 4v4 small-sided games, an extended player evaluation period, specific teams for each player and a superior game day environment.
Led by former Richmond Kickers professional player and ADP and U9/10 Director, Ross Mackenzie, the program has been designed to provide the highest level of technical and tactical instruction under the guidance of Kickers pro players and the best coaches in the region.
The addition of a fifth location, Bryan Park (Richmond), extends the program’s reach throughout the Greater Richmond area, with programs also established at Collegiate – Robins Campus (West End), Washington Henry Elementary School (Mechanicsville), Ukrop Park (Chesterfield), and Woodlake (Midlothian).
“The Kickers ADP program is where we traditionally develop and identify the vast majority of our future U9/10 Travel players,” commented Mackenzie. “By adding a location at Bryan Park we are now able to better serve our families who live in the City of Richmond by offering them a top class developmental program right in their backyard.”
Following U.S. Soccer’s guidelines, ADP players will play a 4v4 format rather than the 3v3 format they have used over the past few seasons. Following a two-week evaluation period, each location will have set teams and rosters for the duration of the season with the flexibility to transition players according to the appropriate development level throughout the season.
“Over the past couple of seasons, we have evaluated ways to improve our ADP program,” added MacKenzie. “By adding set teams and rosters at each location, we will provide our players with continuity, consistency and a fun developmental environment. Being comfortable and developing an understanding with their teammates will allow our players to express themselves on the field, while adding a competitive edge to the games.”
As an added benefit, all players in the Kickers ADP program have the opportunity to experience the atmosphere and excitement of Kickers pro soccer with a complimentary Family Pass, which offers admission for up to five family members to all Richmond Kickers professional regular season home games at City Stadium ($900 value).
