RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers dropped a 5-1 result to top of the table side Union Omaha on Sunday at Morrison Stadium. The result marked Omaha’s first win over Richmond since Nov. 3, 2024, with the Kickers winning the last three meetings between the two sides.
Yann Fillion and the Richmond defense were tested early and often, with several big interventions keeping Omaha from extending its advantage even further. Omaha scored three times in the first half, but Richmond answered just before the break when Tyler Freeman’s work in the box set up Matt Bolduc for Richmond’s lone goal of the evening The Kickers continued to battle after halftime, with Fillion making several more stops in heavy traffic, but Omaha added a fifth in the 90th minute to secure the 5-1 result.
Union Omaha was led by Josue Gomez who solidified the home team’s lead in the 34th minute.
