YOUTH CLUB WEEKEND UPDATE
Academy Teams Undefeated - State Cup Update - Roll Over Roanoke

Academy
The Kickers Academy Teams continued their impressive start to the season by keeping their undefeated status intact.  The U16’s were first to play against a very lively Concorde Fire team.  The U16’s struggled to control the game as Concorde pressed for an early goal.  The Kickers had opportunities on the counter attack with Noah Davis releasing Sam Perry down the left side on a number of occasions.    The U16’s fared  better in the second half as Nate Foglesong was pushed into the center of midfield and Russell Bootwright was switched to the left side. Both Bootwright and Davis hit the woodwork as the Kickers began to gain in confidence.  In the end the game finished 0-0 with both teams ruing several missed opportunities.

The U18’s were in fine form as they caused Concorde problems from the onset.  Nicholas DeProspero, Daniel Comer and Caleb Lewis all came close to giving the Kickers the lead.  It seemed the U18’s had finally taken a deserved lead when a deep cross was headed across the face of the goal by Comer for an onrushing DeProspero to knock home. Sadly the goal was ruled offside an the game was all square at halftime.  The  second half continued in the same vein and it finally paid off as a superb cross by Lewis was finished off by Comer to give the U18’s the lead.  Once again missed opportunities kept the last 10 minutes very close and goalkeeper Andrew Wells had to pull out an extraordinary save in the dying seconds to preserve the 1-0 win.

State Cup
The Kickers Elite teams had a successful Saturday as all the teams competing in the State Cup advanced to the next round.  The U15 Boys won 6-2 versus Gunston Team America. The U17 Boys took down Virginia Legacy 3-1 and the U18 Girls swept aside McLean United 4-0.

VCCL Play
The Kickers Elite teams hosted Roanoke Star on Sunday at Hensley and Woodlake with the Club producing some excellent attacking soccer.
