What is the Super Y League?
The Super Y-League is a national system designed for talented youth players destined for college, professional or international careers. The league is a perfect compliment to the Richmond Kickers vision of providing superior training and highly competitive games for elite players. Which Clubs compete in the Super Y League?
Over 100 clubs throughout North America compete annually for a National Championship. Last year, the Richmond Kickers played against the following teams: NOVA Majestics and Royals, CASL Railhawks, Triangle FC, Charlotte Soccer Club, FC Fredericksburg, Greensboro, Atlanta Silverbacks, and the Richmond Strikers. This year Beach FC Piranahs is joining our division.
When does the Super Y-League Season run?
The season consists of approximately 10-14 games. The majority of games are played during the summer (June-August). The National Finals are held every November in Tampa, Florida.
What are the age brackets for the Super Y-League?
The Super Y-League uses the same USYSA age brackets (Aug 1st to July 31st). The age bracket you participate in now is the same age bracket in which you would play. For example; if you currently play U13 you should tryout for the U13 Super Y team. Competition for Super Y League is only between ages U13 to U18.
We will field teams from U13 to U15 in boys and U14 & U16 in the girls’ age groups.
What is the U11/U12 Developmental Super Y team?
The U11/U12 boys and girls developmental teams will train only with highly qualify coaches over the Super Y League season and participate in scrimmages. They will not compete in the SYL League. They may participate in friendlies. These players DO NOT have to purchase a uniform if they are new to the club.
Where will the teams practice and play home games?
Training will take place at Dorey Park and usually occurs 2 times per week depending upon game schedules. Home games will be played at either Dorey Park or the Hensley Complex. Games may be scheduled during a week day. To locate Dorey Park click here!
How many players will be selected for each Super Y-League team?
Depending on the quality of each tryout group between 22-26 players will be selected. A maximum of 18 players may be selected for the game day roster.
What uniforms will the Super Y-League teams use?
The Richmond Kickers Super Y-League teams will use the same uniforms our travel teams are currently wearing. If a player new to our club is selected to our team he/she will have to purchase red and white jerseys, red and black shorts, red and white socks, and a Liga training jersey for $145.00.
How will transportation to away games be coordinated?
Transportation to away games will be the responsibility of the parent. If we must travel to Atlanta, bus transportation will be secured, but the cost of the bus must be covered by the individuals riding the bus. Parents and teams will be responsible for fees associated with bus rentals.
How will lodging for over-night trips be coordinated?
Players will be responsible for lodging and cost of meals on all over-night trips. The club will cover coach’s hotels and meals (assistant coaches not included). Every effort will be made to keep boys and girls teams in separate hotels. The SYL Director will secure hotels for the away matches; however the team manager will organize rooming lists and payment for hotels. All deposits on hotel rooms for players are the responsibility of the parent.
How much is the Super Y-League fee?
The fee is $475, which includes coaches fees, referee fees, administration costs, insurance, operational expenses and budgeted travel expenses. The fee does not include the uniform fee, if a uniform is needed.
The fee for the U11/U12 developmental teams will be $225.00 which is due by March 1st, 2008.
How do I register for tryouts?
You can register online here! Registration will be available December 7th, 2007.
When will selections be posted?
Selections will be posted on line by age group within 48 hours of tryout completion. All accepted candidates will receive an acceptance email with futher detailed instructions. Once selected to a team, you will be asked to accept your position on line and provide a non-refundable deposit of $275.00 by March 1st, 2008. The uniform fee, if needed is due on March 1st, 2008 as well. The remaining fee of $200.00 will be due by May 1st, 2008.
