RICHMOND, VA – (Wednesday, June 10, 2009) – The Richmond Kickers Destiny of the USL W-League have yet to come out on top after a tough opening schedule.  The Destiny was host to the Hampton Roads Piranhas in the first round of the James River Cup at the University of Richmond Stadium on Saturday, dropping a 5-0 decision to their I-64 rivals.  One day later, the women fell short on the road to the Northern Virginia Majestics on a narrow goal differential of 2-1. 

The Destiny are in search of their first win after a five-game winless streak to start the season. They will get their chance to turn the tables in two games this weekend. The Destiny will head to Charlotte to face off against the Lady Eagles this Friday, June 12th at 7:00 pm for the second time this season. They dropped a hard 4-1 loss despite their defensive efforts at their last meeting. Charlotte is currently in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 1-2-2 so far this season. To round out the weekend, the Destiny will come back home to play at Sports Backers Stadium against the Atlanta Silverbacks on Sunday, June 14th at 6:00 pm. For their second meeting, the Destiny will try to knock off the first place Silverbacks. Currently undefeated and having just allowed one goal this season,  the Destiny have their work cut out for them against the W-League powerhouse.
