DESTINY CONTINUE WINNING WAYS

HAMPTON ROADS, VA - (Thursday, July 3, 2008) - Richmond Kickers Destiny added another win to its schedule right before the holiday.  Destiny’s Jess O’Dwyer scored late in the first half  to lift Richmond to a 1-0 victory over the Hampton Roads Piranhas.  The win extended the Destiny’s winning streak to two games with hopes to keep the streak going with only four games left in the season.

O’Dwyer’s goal was her first of the season and only goal of the game.  Claire Zimmeck assisted O’Dwyer, leading her team in assists with three.  The Destiny had a few chances to extend the lead, having a total of four corner kicks in the first half, but settled to a 1-0 final score.

Destiny keeper Chantel Jones worked hard to keep the ball out of the net for her team making a total of nine saves.  Piranhas’ Kimberly Francis lead her team in shots, firing five throughout, but nothing could find the back of Jones’ goal.    Hampton Roads held advantages in shots (18-5), but the Destiny lead in corner kicks 5-1.

The Destiny will hit the road on Friday, July 11th to take on West Virginia Illusion before returning home to host the Carolina Dynamo on Sunday, July 13th at 7:00 pm at Sports Backers Stadium.
