Richmond, VA – (Tuesday, September 9, 2008) – The Richmond Kickers Future of the Premier Development League (PDL) are pleased to announce defender Scott Robertson was one of five Navy players to be selected to the UMBC adidas Kickoff Classic All-Tournament Team while taking top honors as tournament MVP. A junior at Navy, Robertson led the team to a 2-0-0 record and the tournament title while holding the leading scorers from both Adelphi and Lipscomb scoreless during their 2-1 and 3-2 victories, respectively.
Robertson made a belated appearance with the Richmond Kickers Future in 2008 after fulfilling his summer training requirements as a midshipman for the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Despite his midseason arrival, he made six appearances and tallied one goal for the Future during their 2-2 road draw against the Northern Virginia Royals to conclude the 2008 campaign. As a sophomore at Navy last year, he started all 17 games played and led the defense to six shutouts on the season. Before reporting for preseason training this fall, Robertson spent a week training with the Richmond Kickers pro team.
A native of Chester, Virginia, the former Richmond Kickers Youth Soccer Club player graduated from Thomas Dale High School in 2006. Earning four letters in soccer and two in cross country, he led Thomas Dale to two Virginia state titles while compiling a 48-0-0 record his final two seasons. The two-time All-District, All-Region and All-Metro honoree also garnered honorable mention All-State accolades as a senior.
