FREDERICKSBURG, VA - (Saturday, July 3, 2008) - The Richmond Kickers Future tallied a last minute goal to gain a 1-0 victory over the Fredericksburg Gunners.
The game began evenly matched, with both teams having four shots in the first half and Future with only one corner kick. Richmond’s defense played smart and battled hard, catching the Fredericksburg Gunners offsides six times throughout the game.
With close to no time left, Future took advantage of a quick restart, finding Boris Gatzky in on goal alone. The Gunners defense was left behind hoping for an offsides call by the referee. Gatzky found the back of Sean Paradise’s goal from 8 yards out, winning the match for his team.
The Future had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks, but the Gunners out shot the Future by a slim 11-10 margin.
