RICHMOND, VA - (Thursday, June 12, 2008) - Meanwhile, the Richmond Kickers Future of the Premier Development League (PDL) host the Northern Virginia Royals this Saturday, June 14th at 3:00 pm at the University of Richmond Stadium. The PDL match will be the first leg of a doubleheader with the pro team, who are scheduled to take the field against the Bermuda Hogges at 7:00 pm. Please note the new time of the PDL game is now 3:00 pm, changed from 4:00 pm as previously scheduled.
Mid-Atlantic Division rivals, Northern Virginia currently hold a record of 1-5-2 and five points, just three points ahead of the Future who close out the standings with a 0-6-2 record. The Future are still searching for their first win of the season, after suffering consecutive losses last weekend. First, the Future fell to the PDL Hampton Roads Piranhas, 3-1 on Thursday, June 5th. Hampton Roads took an early lead in the 3rd minute and found the net again in the 57th. The Future cut the margin with seven minutes until time when Andy McIntosh converted a penalty kick but the Piranhas struck again to close out the match with a tally in the final seconds of stoppage time.
Last time out, the Future suffered another loss by the same scoreline, on the road against the Reading Rage on Sunday, June 8th. This time, it was midfielder David Rosenbaum who leveled the score with a 39th minute tally, 12 minutes after the home side took the lead. The stalemate was broken shortly after the second half restart when Reading went up in the 52nd minute and added a third goal during the 90th minute.
