Drew Romig has been selected to the U.S. Soccer Under-14 Boys National Team roster for the upcoming 2011 Thanksgiving Interregional event in Chula Vista, California.  Including travel days the trip will take place from Wednesday, November 23 to Monday, November 28.  Drew is a true U14 player who currently plays an age group up with the Richmond Kickers U15 Elite.

“Drew has been part of the Richmond Kickers since joining the club while still U8, commented Ihor Dotsenko, Richmond Kickers Technical Director.  “He is one of the most hard-working and focused players in the club and is always looking to improve his game. We are very proud of Drew’s selection to the initial roster for the U14 National Team and are confident that he will represent the club well.”

The event is composed of the U-14 Boys National Team players born in 1998 and all four United States Youth Soccer regions with players born in 1997 and 1998.  The U.S. will bring a total of 36 players to the camp and will split the roster into two teams. A total of 18 of the 36 players hail from 16 different Development Academy clubs and 23 players were identified via a U.S. Soccer Training Center.  The U.S. will play six games over three match days on November 25, 26 and 27. Each of the U.S. Under-14 squads will play one game per match day.
