Richmond Kickers Indoor of the Premier Arena Soccer League concluded the 2008-09 season Friday night, suffering a 5-3 loss to the Winchester Impact.  After taking the regular season title with a 7-1-0 record, Kickers Indoor recorded their first loss at SCOR in front of a sellout crowd.  The Winchester Impact ended the Kickers run, claiming the Mid-Atlantic Championship title to conclude their sophomore PASL season.

Richmond Kickers Indoor of the Premier Arena Soccer League concluded the 2008-09 regular home season with an 8-4 win over the Fredericksburg Generals on Saturday night in front of the sixth consecutive sellout crowd.  The win solidified the Kickers’ position at the top of the table with a 5-1-0 record and one match-up remaining.  The Kickers will travel to Winchester tomorrow, Sunday, February 15th to battle for the regular season title against the Impact who trail by just three points.  Stay tuned to RichmondKickers.com for all of the upcoming postseason information.

Meet Chris Green, goal-scoring sensation on the Richmond Kickers Indoor team.  A native of Richmond, VA, Chris is in his second season with Kickers Indoor and currently leads the team in scoring with five goals and two assists.  A graduate of Mills Godwin High School, Green has since returned to his alma mater as JV Boys soccer coach.  When he is not on the soccer field, the graduate of Virginia Military Institute acts as the Systems Analyst and JV Boys soccer coach at The Steward School and is an active member with the Central Virginia Soccer Association’s Sporting Richmond FC.  RichmondKickers.com sat down with Chris for this edition of One versus Eleven:

Richmond Kickers Indoor of the Premier Arena Soccer League claimed a 6-5 overtime win over the Virginia Legacy on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd.  The home side rallied back from a 3-0, first-quarter deficit, taking the 5-3 lead with 15 minutes until regulation.  Two back-to back Legacy goals brought the scoreline even, pushing the game into overtime.  Less than a minute into extra time, Kickers Indoor midfielder Luke Vercollone tallied the golden goal, his third on the night.  Kickers Indoor returns to SCOR on Saturday, February 7th to host the Maryland Tigers at 7pm.  Click HERE to order tickets in advance

Thanks to the support of the Richmond community, Richmond Kickers Indoor was able to donate $2,622 to Connor’s Heroes during the second annual Kick Out Cancer event held at SCOR on Saturday, December 20th.  This year’s total more than doubled the proceeds raised during the inaugural event in 2007.  "Connor’s Heroes continues to be amazed at the generosity of the Richmond Kickers and the soccer community in Richmond, especially the CVSA, whose members have actively supported us over the past two years” comments Steve Goodwin, Connor’s Heroes Foundation President and Co-Founder.

Richmond Kickers Indoor welcomes another player with Kickers ties to the 08-09 roster, former Richmond Kickers midfielder Kofi Nti.  A member of the Richmond Kickers 2005 USL First Division Finalist team and the 2006 USL Second Division Championship team in 2006, Kofi played indoor soccer with the Richmond Rowdies last season and spent the 2008 season with the Richmond Kickers Future of the Premier Development League.

Richmond Kickers midfielder and former New England Revolution player Luke Vercollone is set for the 2008-09 Richmond Kickers Indoor season.  “We are extremely lucky to have such a quality player as our first addition of the season,” comments Richmond Kickers Indoor Head Coach Kyle Lessig.  “Luke also brings a high-level of experience and professionalism to the team."  A native of Pembroke, Massachusetts, Vercollone joined the Kickers after spending two seasons with the Charleston Battery of the USL First Division.  In his first season with the Kickers, he started 21 of 23 games played and registered a pair of goals and assists for six points.
