LAST REGULAR SEASON GAME SATURDAY!
Kickers Indoor Host Fredericksburg, February 14th, 7PM @ SCOR

RICHMOND, VA – (Wednesday, February 11, 2009) – Richmond Kickers Indoor of the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL) return to SCOR, Sports Center of Richmond this Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February 14th to host I-95 rivals Fredericksburg Generals at 7:00 pm.  Saturday’s match marks the fourth and final match-up between the two clubs, to conclude the 2008-09 regular home season.  The first 100 fans through the door will receive a Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund recyclable grocery bag courtesy of Ukrop’s.  Space is limited and a sellout is expected so arrive early to purchase tickets at the door!

Kickers Indoor currently reside at the top of the PASL standings after an exciting last minute victory over the Maryland Tigers last weekend.  A low-scoring first half gave away to a flurry of fourth-quarter goals to take the scoreline from 2-2 to 7-4 within a span of four minutes.  Meanwhile, the Generals’ record fell to 2-4-0 after dropping an 8-6 decision to the Virginia Legacy.  Just six points separate the top four teams in the division with playoff contention on the line.

Saturday’s match rounds out the four-game series between the Kickers and the Generals.  The two teams last met in Fredericksburg where a closely contested 10-8 match led to the first Kickers victory at the Field House in franchise history.  A home and away exhibition series between the clubs opened the 2008-09 campaign, during which Kickers Indoor narrowly missed the change to take the first annual Thanksgiving Shootout title.  Swapping home wins with the Generals, Kickers Indoor dropped a 7-4 decision on the road before claiming a 6-4 victory in Richmond, conceding the trophy on goal differential.

Finishing their third indoor season, defending Mid-Atlantic Champions Fredericksburg Generals captured the regular season title with a 6-2-0 record and avenged a prior championship loss by taking the title against the Winchester Impact during a high-scoring, 23-16 affair during the 2007-08 season.  Richmond Kickers defender and Fredericksburg native, Kelvin Jones, leads the Generals on and off the field, acting as a player as well as the Director of Marketing and Event Operations.
