RICHMOND, VA - (Saturday, January 24, 2009) – Richmond Kickers Indoor of the Premier Arena Soccer League claimed a 6-5 overtime win over the Virginia Legacy on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd. The home side rallied back from a 3-0, first-quarter deficit, taking the 5-3 lead with 15 minutes until regulation. Two back-to back Legacy goals brought the scoreline even, pushing the game into overtime. Less than a minute into extra time, Kickers Indoor midfielder Luke Vercollone tallied the golden goal, his third on the night.
Avenging an earlier season loss to the Legacy, tonight’s win brings the Kickers Indoor regular season record to 2-1. Former Kickers pro Greg Simmonds notched the other three goals and added an assist while midfielder Chris Green contributed with one assist. Kickers Indoor travels to meet I-95 rivals Fredericksburg Generals next Saturday before returning to SCOR on Saturday, February 7th to host the Maryland Tigers at 7:00 pm.
