RICHMOND, VA - (Saturday, December 6, 2008) – Richmond Kickers Indoor of the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL) opened the 2008-09 regular season with a 8-5 win over the Winchester Impact. Man of the Match, Chris Green brought the Kickers back from a halftime deficit, adding three goals and an assist to reclaim the lead. Kickers pro Luke Vercollone and Greg Simmonds tallied a pair of goals a piece while Andre Nunes rounded out the score minutes from regulation. Former Richmond Kickers Future midfielder Alan Delahunty contributed with three assists on the night. Kickers Indoor led the Impact 33 shots to 19 with Vercollone responsible for 10. Kickers pro goalkeeper Mark Murphy stifled the Winchester attack, allowing just one goal during the second half.
Kickers Indoor returns to SCOR, Sports Center of Richmond, on Saturday, December 20th to host Kick Out Cancer, benefiting Connor’s Heroes Foundation. The charity event showcasing local youth coaches will be held 5:00-8:00 pm and will include games for kids, a silent auction, raffle prizes and exhibition matches highlighting teams from the Central Virginia Soccer Association. The finale match will pit Kickers Indoor against an All-Stars team comprised of youth soccer coaches representing United FC, Richmond Strikers, FC Richmond and Richmond Kickers Youth Soccer Club. Headlining the All-Stars roster are such players as Richmond Kickers pro player Mike Burke, United FC Technical Director Kevin Darcy, Richmond Strikers U16/U18 Academy Director Erwan Le Crom and FC Richmond Assistant Director of Coaching Trip Ellis.
