RICHMOND, VA - (Tuesday, September 16, 2008) – Richmond Kickers midfielder and former New England Revolution player Luke Vercollone is set for the 2008-09 Richmond Kickers Indoor season.

A native of Pembroke, Massachusetts, Vercollone joined the Kickers after spending two seasons with the Charleston Battery of the USL First Division.  In his first season with the Kickers, he started 21 of 23 games played and registered a pair of goals and assists for six points.  A workhorse in the midfield, he posted 1,912 minutes, good for fourth on the team in minutes played. 

In two seasons with the Battery, he made 66 appearances, notching three goals and six assists for 12 points overall.  Prior to his stint in the USL-1, the 5’10” midfielder was drafted by the Columbus Crew in the 2004 MLS Super Draft and made five appearances over two seasons with the New England Revolution after signing as a Developmental Player in 2004.  A four-year starter at Seton Hall University, Vercollone led the team in points (21) and assists (11), while tying for the lead in goals with five his senior year, earning All-Big East First Team honors.  The freshman walk-on was instrumental in Seton Hall making three successive NCAA playoff appearances.  Vercollone’s experience extends to the PDL level as he won two PDL Championships with the Cape Cod Crusaders (2002, 2003), playing 23 games over two seasons and tallying nine goals and 10 assists.

About Richmond Kickers Indoor
Entering its 10th year, PASL is the largest international indoor/arena soccer league in the world with 54 teams in the United States.  Teams play regionally with the season running November through March.  PASL is an affiliated member of the FIFRA (Federation International Futbal Rapido Association).  The Richmond Kickers have taken over the operations for the existing Richmond indoor soccer franchise, which competed in the PASL during the 2007-08 season.  Richmond Kickers Indoor will consist mostly of Kickers professionals plus select amateur players and will take the field during the 2008-09 season.  Competing in the Mid-Atlantic division, Richmond Kickers Indoor will face regional opponents in approximately 10 matches, with home matches taking place at SCOR, Sports Center of Richmond.  Stay tuned to RichmondKickers.com for game schedules.  

Richmond Kickers Indoor Tryouts September 27th
Richmond Kickers Indoor of the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL) will host an open tryout on Saturday, September 27th, 3:00 – 5:00 pm at SCOR, Sports Center of Richmond, located at 1385 Overbrook Road in Richmond.  Richmond Kickers Indoor is seeking talented amateur players to compete in the highly competitive 2008-09 season.  Applicants will be invited to participate in an afternoon of intense training and scrimmages.  The application fee is $25.00.
