FENTON, MO — (Saturday, October 7, 2017) — The Richmond Kickers (8-15-8) earned their second road victory of the season, taking a 1-0 win over Saint Louis FC (9-14-8) at Toyota Stadium Saturday night. Jackson Eskay set up Matt Bolduc to score his second goal of the season in the 46th minute for the only goal of the match, which was enough to give the Kickers all three points.

The home side tried to apply the pressure early in the 4th minute. Emmanuel Appiah played the ball up the left side of the field for Sebastian Dalgaard. Dalgaard looked to play in a cross towards the back post just as Seth Rudolph was making a run. Alex Lee met the cross with a header and played it safe to concede a corner kick.

Richmond looked to create an opportunity at the other end just a minute later. Right on the midfield line, Raul Gonzalez played the ball through the Saint Louis backline for Mikey Minutillo. As Minutillo went for a shot towards goal, the referee blew his whistle as the linesman had the flag up signaling the offside on Minutillo.

The Kickers continued to press for an opening goal in the 7th minute. Alex Lee controlled the ball on the left side of the field, as he fed the ball up for Luiz Fernando. He whipped in a cross to find Jackson Eskay right at the top of the six-yard box. His header was blocked by Wesley Charpie as the ball fell to Lee’s feet. A.J. Cochrane was in the right place to deflect away the opportunity by Lee. Matt Bolduc controlled the ball still inside the Saint Louis box. Charpie slid in to prevent any kind of chance from Bolduc as Saint Louis finally cleared away the danger.

Travis Worra was called into action in the 11th minute. Christian Volesky received the ball out wide right from Seth Rudolph. Volesky sent in a dangerous cross into the Richmond box as Travis Worra stretched out to get a hand and knock down the cross. Unfortunately, his cross fell to Emir Alihodzic. He tried to go for goal as it goes wide.

Matt Bolduc broke the deadlock, scoring his second goal of the season in the 46th minute. Emir Alihodzic misplayed a pass right at midfield as Mikey Minutillo came back to control the ball and start moving up the field. As he was being challenged, Minutillo played the ball to his right for Jackson Eskay. Bolduc made the overlapping run behind Eskay and he left the ball off for Bolduc. He went right for goal, slipping his shot calmly under Devala Gorrick as he was diving to find the back of the net.

Saint Louis looked to level the scoreline in the 77th minute after winning a free kick just outside the Richmond box. Tyler David was making his way towards goal as Patrick McCann slide in trying to make the stop as the referee whistled for a foul on McCann. With Max Alvarez and Octavio Guzman standing over the free kick, Alvarez took the kick trying to go to the right of Travis Worra, as Worra was able to get just enough on the ball to push it wide.

The Kickers will conclude the 2017 USL season as they travel to face Louisville City FC next Saturday, October 14. The match will be available live on television through the Kickers official partners WTVR CBS 6 on their 6.3 sub channel (Comcast 206, Verizon FiOS 466) and the USL Match Center.
