RICHMOND, VA — (Saturday, August 12, 2017) — The Richmond Kickers (3-12-8) fell to Orlando City B (6-6-10) at City Stadium Saturday night. Hadji Barry scored the only goal of the night in the 24th minute from a pass by Pierre Da Silva to give Orlando their first victory over the Kickers.

Orlando would win the first real opportunity of the night from a free kick in the 4th minute. Pierre Da Silva played a short pass from the left side for Hadji Barry near the top of the Richmond box. Just as he was taking a touch, Barry was clipped from behind by Finnlay Wyatt for a free kick about 20 yards from goal. Rafael Ramos stepped up to take the free kick and sent his shot harmlessly over the goal for a Kickers goal kick.

Hadji Barry gave the visitors the lead through a goal in the 24th minute. Pierre Da Silva receive the ball on the left side as he was challenged by Samuel Asante. Da Silva took a touch to get around Asante as he lost his footing. He made it to the endline and played a cross in towards the center of the box. William Yomby tried to get in front of the cross. The ball deflected off Yomby to fall at the feet of Barry. He turned and placed his shot to Matt Turner’s left into the side netting for the goal.

Just a minute later and Raul Gonzalez nearly leveled the score for the Kickers. Oscar Umar controlled the ball near the midfield line on the right side. He went for the long ball over the top of the Orlando defense to find Raul Gonzalez making a run to the top of the OCB box at the center of the field. Gonzalez knocked the ball down and went for the quick shot as Earl Edwards, Jr. makes the stop.

Orlando had a chance to double their score in the 36th minute that was saved by the crossbar. From a free kick on the left edge of the Kickers box, Lewis Neal played the ball across the top of the 18-yard box and found Pierre Da Silva, who took a one-time shot and hit the crossbar. Ramos followed up the deflection with a chance that ended up near the corner flag.

Finnlay Wyatt looked for two opportunities for a goal starting in the 48th minute. Sunny Jane from inside the center circle looked up to find Wyatt with plenty of space up the left flank. Wyatt played a high, dipping ball into the Orlando box, nearly connecting with a leaping Luiz Fernando as Orlando clears the ball from danger. A minute later and Wyatt found himself in the same location. This time Wyatt got to the endline to send the ball into the top of the six-yard box and almost picked out Matthew Bolduc. Seb Hines was able to beat him to the ball to stop any chance.

Second half substitute Franck Tayou had a chance in the 70th minute on a corner kick. Matthew Bolduc sent the corner in from the left side to the far post where Tayou was waiting. He tried to sneak his shot inside the post as the ball rolled just wide.

The Kickers had one last chance to try and level the score through Oscar Umar in the 87th minute. Luiz Fernando received the ball in the center of the field and made a diagonal run to the right side of the field approaching the Orlando box. Umar powered past Fernando up the right flank as Fernando laid the ball off for him. He tried for a one-time effort towards the far post that ended up going just over the Orlando goal.

The Kickers are back at City Stadium next Saturday night August 19, hosting Toronto FC II and Family Fest, presented by CBS6 and Bounce 2 The Moon.
