The Richmond Kickers U12 Boys Elite White finished third at the U.S. Youth Soccer Region 1 Championships last weekend, ousting three State Champions en route to a semifinal finish.

Led by coaches Sascha Goerres, Sean Kastetter and Mike Burke, the Kickers qualified for the tournament as the Virginia State Cup runners-up and defeated the Vermont State Champions, Synergy FC, the Rhode Island State Champions Bayside FC Bolts and the West Virginia State Champions WVSC Lightning with a combined 14 goals, while allowing just four during the group stage.

The Kickers advanced to the Regional semifinals Monday, but suffered a 4-0 defeat to the reigning Virginia State Champions Arlington Eagles Red finishing among the best four teams in the region.
