Richmond Kickers U16 Girls Central player Addie Wright did not spend much time resting and relaxing during her spring break last March.  Armed with donated soccer balls, uniforms and cleats from the Kickers community, Addie instead traveled to the Dominican Republic with St. Catherine’s School, working to improve the school and play areas at San Esteban School.

Delivering the soccer equipment to the school has allowed the teachers to form two school teams, which scrimmage each other during physical education classes.  In addition to outfitting the students in jerseys, shorts and cleats, Addie and her classmates also painted a computer classroom, refurbished computer desks, programmed several donated laptops for school use and painted a mural on the cinderblock playground wall.

Because of the success of this year’s trip, several St. Catherine’s families have established a 501(c)3 foundation to provide four full scholarships to less fortunate students and to make the mission trip an annual event at St. Catherine’s.
