Richmond Kickers U10 Girls Elite player, Dylan White, was recently named the 2012 Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes Central Virginia Youth Advocate.  In her efforts to educate others about diabetes and to help find a cure, the Millwood School third grader spoke at the American Diabetes Association Garden Party last weekend in front of over 100 adults. 

Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was six years old, Dylan has learned to overcome daily challenges, including checking her blood glucose levels via finger sticks after each meal, insulin injections and counting carbs.  However, she has learned that she can still do anything she sets her mind to, including trying out and making the Kickers U10 Elite team.

In addition to playing soccer, Dylan enjoys going to diabetes camp every summer, sports, riding her bike and raising awareness about diabetes.
