The Richmond Kickers will hold U16 (birth year 94 and 95) & U18 Boys (birth year 92 and 93) US Soccer Development Academy Tryouts and U14 (birth year 96, 97 and 98) Boys Pre-Academy Tryouts for the 2010-2011 season on Saturday, March 20 at Ukrop Park. Tryouts for the U14 Pre-Academy will be held 9am-11am, while the U16/U18 Academy Tryouts will take place 12pm-2pm Virginia’s most talented players are encouraged to participate. The US Soccer Development Academy’s primary focus is player development. Academy players are provided with the best opportunity to achieve their potential as elite soccer players. Academy players train with the best players in the region and compete against the best players in the entire Nation. The USSF Academy League is widely considered the number one development program in the nation.
Academy players are coached by Professional coaches Leigh Cowlishaw and Jesse Myers. The coaching staff has over 25 years of professional coaching, youth coaching and ten years of college coaching experience.

Training and matches are played at Ukrop Park. Ukrop Park, home of the Richmond Kickers, has been identified as a potential team base camp to be included in the United States bid for the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups™. The sports complex has been chosen as a possible training camp to host one of the 32 competing soccer nations, if the USA is awarded the honor to host either the 2018 or 2022 events. Team Base Camps will provide the visiting teams with a ‘home away from home’ and outstanding fitness and training facilities to help them in their final preparations for the biggest sporting event in the world.
