Richmond, VA – (Wednesday, September 26, 2007) – The Richmond Kickers are pleased to host their 10th Annual Player Combine for eligible college seniors, qualified free agents and talented amateur players that are seeking a professional contract.  The weekend is set for February 16-18, 2008 at facilities in Richmond, Virginia.  The Kickers will once again guarantee to sign at least one player from the combine to a professional contract that will include a $500 signing bonus.  

“We receive hundreds of requests each year for players to tryout for the Richmond Kickers,” comments Richmond Kickers Head Coach Leigh Cowlishaw.  “This combine is the most effective way for those players to have an opportunity to impress the Kickers coaching staff and secure a professional contract.”

A selected number of applicants will be invited to participate in two days of intense training and scrimmages.  The application cost is $99.00 and does not include travel, hotel room nights or meals

Past Kickers trials have produced such prominent players as Clyde Simms (D.C. United and US Men’s National Team), Ronnie Pascale (Two-time USL2 Goalkeeper of the Year), Tim Brown (New Zealand National Team), Sascha Görres (Richmond Kickers Three-Year Standout) and Robert Ssejjemba (2006 USL2 MVP and Ugandan National Team).  Last year, several trialists joined the 2007 squad, including Charlie Howe, Evan Harding, Trey Alexander, Kevin Edwards and Mark Murphy.

Recommended Lodging
Players are responsible for all travel, hotels and meals.  The Richmond Kickers recommend the newly renovated Holiday Inn Central (804-359-9441), which is conveniently located within three miles of the combine facilities and offers a special discounted room rate ($89 plus tax per night) to all combine participants.  To take advantage of this special rate, please request the room block of the “Richmond Kickers Pro Tryouts” when contacting the Holiday Inn Central front desk.  The Kickers encourage participants to reserve a room at least two weeks prior to the combine to ensure availability.
