PRESEASON SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
Local Favorites, NCAA Champions and ACC Powerhouse Featured
RICHMOND, VA – (Monday, January 30, 2012) – The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce the 2012 preseason schedule, featuring games against local favorites Virginia Commonwealth University on Saturday, March 3 and NCAA National Champions University of North Carolina Chapel Hill on Saturday, March 17 at the state-of-the-art sports complex, Ukrop Park. The Kickers will cap off their preseason schedule against ACC powerhouse University of Maryland on Saturday, March 31 at Richmond City Stadium.

Retired Club Captain Turns Richmond City Firefighter
A natural leader on and off the field, former Kickers defender and captain, Kevin Knight, is a soccer star turned hometown hero.
Following his retirement from a prolific career in professional soccer that spanned over a decade, Knight now serves as one of Richmond’s bravest as a Richmond City firefighter. Assigned to Rescue Company 1, he specializes in Swift Water Rescue and Dive Operations.
PRO TRYOUTS CONCLUDE
2012 Kickers Tryouts Wrapped Up Sunday at Ukrop Park
The third and final day of the Kickers pro tryouts concluded Sunday with an early morning full-sided scrimmage session. At the conclusion, ten deserving trialists, including several with extensive USL PRO experience, were selected to participate in a match versus CASL at Ukrop Park.

RICHMOND, VA - (Thursday, January 19, 2012) – Over 70 players will attend the Richmond Kickers 14th annual player combine this weekend, January 20-22 at the Kickers state-of-the-art sports complex, Ukrop Park. Players representing countries from around the world, including the U.S., England, France, Germany, Brazil, The Gambia, Nigeria and South Africa, will participate in three days of intense training, including small-sided games, speed testing and full-sided matches.

Michael Brady played for the Richmond Kickers in 1994 and 1995 as a midfielder and forward, making history as a member of the legendary team that claimed the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup title in ‘95.
PIONEER CUP ANNOUNCED
Oldest Rivals Kick Off 20th Anniversary with Home-and-Away Derby
RICHMOND, VA – (Friday, January 13, 2012) – The Richmond Kickers, alongside the Charleston Battery, are pleased to announce the introduction of the Pioneer Cup, a home and away derby established to commemorate the 20th Anniversary Season of the two clubs. Wearing retro 1993 green and blue adidas uniforms, the Kickers will play host to the Battery for the first leg of the Pioneer Cup on Saturday, April 7 at Richmond City Stadium before swapping home field advantage on Saturday, April 14 at Blackbaud Stadium. The winner of the Pioneer Cup will be determined by the aggregate score of the two-game series.

CHICAGO, IL – (Thursday, January 12, 2012) – From an expanded tournament field to an equal opportunity to host matches, the 99th edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup features an assortment of strategic changes as the competition begins first-round action on May 15.
This year’s U.S. Open Cup includes a 64-team field, which represents the largest in the modern era (1995 to present), eclipsing the previous record of 42 teams set in 2005 and 2006. It also is the largest expansion of teams (24) from a previous year in the competition’s recent history.

RICHMOND, VA – (Wednesday, January 11, 2012) – The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce the 2012 professional schedule, opening their 20th Anniversary season against longtime rival Charleston Battery on Saturday, April 7 at 5:00 p.m. As one of the three longest tenured professional soccer clubs in the United States, the Kickers will celebrate 20 years alongside the Battery and the Charlotte Eagles in 2012. The home opener will commemorate the Kickers 20th season with ticket specials, alumni appearances and 1993 retro jerseys.

Riverhounds Announce Multi-Sport Facility to be Completed Summer 2012
PITTSBURGH, PA. (January 10, 2012) The Pittsburgh Riverhounds announced today the construction of a multi-sport stadium to serve as a home field for the United Soccer League (USL) professional soccer club. The Pittsburgh Passion Professional Women’s Football Team also intends to make the stadium its home field. The stadium will be constructed in Station Square, Pittsburgh’s preeminent mixed-use entertainment complex, with a completion date expected for summer 2012.

Former Kickers Player Recently Appointed FC Dallas Reserves Head Coach
FRISCO, Texas (Thursday, January 5, 2012) – FC Dallas has named Marco Ferruzzi as the head coach of FC Dallas Reserves, the club announced today.
Ferruzzi made 120 appearances in a Richmond Kickers uniform over four seasons (1999-2002), notching 18 goals and eight assists in nearly 10,000 minutes played.

New Series Features Current U-18 US Youth National Team Coach
Richie Williams, who played for the Richmond Kickers as a defensive midfielder for a total of five seasons, can look back on a great career both as a player and coach.
As a player he particularly impressed with his ability to interfere with the opponents playmakers. Being only 5’5” tall, he was well known for his dogged tackling and he managed to become a valuable defensive force in USL, Major League Soccer and the U.S. National Team.

Kickers Re-Sign Forward for 2012 Season
