RICHMOND, VA – (Wednesday, August 16, 2006) – The Richmond Kickers Soccer Club is pleased to announce that Richmond Neighborhood Soccer Association (RNSA) has joined the club as an affiliate recreational program.
“The [RNSA] Board was impressed by the Kickers’ commitment to community based soccer, by the exceptional resources they bring to both recreational and competitive programs, and by their experience and expertise in handling the many administrative responsibilities that are often troublesome for all-volunteer run organizations such as RNSA,” comments RNSA Commissioner Peter Moliterno. “The participating Board members voted unanimously to embrace full integration of RNSA into the Kickers organization.”
Richmond Neighborhood Soccer Association will continue to maintain its identity but will be recognized as a part of the Kickers organization. Games for younger players will continue to be held at Seminary fields while recreational games for older players will be held at Bryan Park. RNSA will continue to provide volunteer coaches and assist with field preparation and refereeing of games. The Richmond Kickers will assume responsibility for registration, uniforms, player and coaching clinics and general promotion. In addition, all RNSA players will receive Richmond Kickers Pro Passes, which offer complimentary admission to all Richmond Kickers pro, PDL and W-League regular season home games plus discounted offers from Arbys and Ukrops.
Leigh Cowlishaw, Director of Soccer Programs states, “The Kickers are very excited that RNSA has chosen to join our club. RNSA is truly a community grass roots soccer organization and we have no doubt they will be a perfect compliment to our organization. We look forward to enhancing the program and serving their membership to the best of our ability.”
Tim Krout, Youth Club General Manager states, “We are very excited about RNSA joining our Club. The Kickers are very committed to reaching out to our local communities; and reaching out to the city programs has always been one of our top priorities.”
RNSA joins several affiliate recreational programs under the Kickers umbrella including City of Richmond Parks and Rec. (Fall 2000), Midlothian Youth Soccer League (Fall 2001), Ashland Dragons (Fall 2001), Pocoshock Valley Youth Soccer League (Travel) (Fall 2002), Pocoshock Valley Youth Soccer League (Recreational) (Fall 2004) and Dorey Park Recreational Soccer League (Spring 2006).

Benefits include economy of scale, consistency of coaching philosophy, professional administrative and coaching staff expertise, positive role models for youth players, a clear pathway from youth to pro for aspiring young players, and the ability to combine resources to draw additional sponsorships and grants.
